Versace Showroom

A wholesale showroom for Versace Headquarters in New York City by SO−IL, where reflective materials and sliding characters define rooms and display garments, completed in 2015

Versace Showroom is organized by four large kinetic objects that split, pivot, rotate and slide as autonomous characters. Various spatial arrangements reconfigure small meetings and group events. Accessory displays and storage are integrated into the objects. Mirror clad columns, PVC stretched across the ceiling and translucent, High Density Polyethylene objects produce a dynamic interior. Inside an existing New York City high-rise, the showroom has panoramic views of Central Park, glimpsed through reflection, and provides a lush background that does not compete with the vibrant, ornate garments on display. This work represents the schematic design and development as well as fabrication of objects. The project is published in various media including Dezeen, Divisare and Domus.
