Thresholds
A compilation of drawings and images that examine apertures and edges, completed in 2016
Thresholds is a catalog of research that studies how apertures and edges can mediate, and tamper with, the reading of boundaries and references in the built environment. The research looks closely at construction details and reinterprets them through scale models. Technical drawings paired with model photography aim to understand an architect’s tools to construct affect, including spatial expansion and compression, studying precedents that range from a typical infinity pool detail to Kazuyo Sejima’s House in a Plum Grove window.
